One of my first memories is taking my dad's old electric guitar at the age of 3 and posing in front of the mirror. According to my parents I didn't want to put it down. Even though this wasn't a real beginning, I somehow still carry this memory. A few years later I kept on taking the same guitar out of the closet even though I wasn't supposed to. I did it anyways but quietly. This pretty much describes my relation to music and guitars. This well is deep. Really deep.
I played piano for 5 years because I was told it's important. I didn't care much for it back then but - as always - the adults were right. At the age of 14 I picked up the guitar again, this time for real. I learned my first C and Am chords that day in summer camp and it was on. I played until my fingers bled. It was awesome.
My first teacher, Tibor Bartha showed me everything that I know about chicken pickin' and hybrid picking, and prepared me for the entrance exams to music college (Kőbányai Zenei Stúdió in Budapest). He is always gonna be like a "guitar dad" to me.
Then came 4 years of music college where I learned a lot about blues, jazz and fusion. After that I forgot a lot about jazz and fusion, haha. Still, playing with the college bands and learning from those fantastic teachers opened up my ears to music on a whole new level. Life changing experience.
I'll forever be grateful to my amazing teachers, Zoli Maróthy, Gyula Babos and Ferenc Tornóczky.
I played in rock, metal, folk, progressive, pop-rock bands, some were pretty successful, others not at all. I even played and sang in a party-funk band in Mallorca for half a year to earn some money. Imagine me singing Bee Gees. Crazy times...
I moved to Germany in 2008 and played in multiple Top 40 bands over the years. I learned a lot from that, a working musician really needs to understand gear, tone, monitoring and all of those things. After around 1000 cover shows I felt like I wanted to do something else and started making YouTube videos for Thomann in 2016. Since 2019 I run my own YouTube channel too and those two jobs keep me quite busy. Which is something I truly love.
After a long break it was time to record original music again and finally, in 2025 my first solo album came out. Ego Town is a collection of songs that are very dear to me and lyrics that are deep and personal. This album was basically a therapy session for me, this is not just the smiley-happy Kris that you might know from the videos.
Thanks for being here, reading this and being a part of this journey. I really appreciate it.
